Northwoods SAR Center is located approximately 30 miles SE of Ketchikan International (PAKT), in Southeast Alaska. It was developed to be the home base for the VSR, the peacetime branch of the CSR, a Combat Flight Simulator Virtual Squadron specializing in Search and Rescue Operations. Northwoods is a base of operations for Search and Rescue Operations in the SE Alaska and Western BC area. At the base you will find:
Working Air Traffic Control! Shows up on GPS and Map View
5500 foot asphalt runway capable of handling the heaviest birds. ILS freq. 115.5, with approach heading of 210'
AFCAD Designated taxiways leading to ample gates and parking:
